Strawberry Moon

Cultures around the world have named full moons for centuries. Folklore is steeped in full moon stories. The Algonquin tribe of north America call June’s moon the Strawberry Moon. The sixth moon of the year, coincides with the ripening and harvest of wild strawberries. More importantly, while June’s strawberry moon isn’t pink, the rise and fall of this beautiful Solstice moon often echos the rich, vibrant tones of summer berries.

The Celtic Mead Moon

The Celts dubbed the full moon in June, Mead Moon. Named after the mead (a wine made by fermenting water and honey) that was traditionally brewed for wedding ceremonies. An ancient brew, mead was once known as the drink of the Gods, made by bees from the morning dew as it cascaded down from the heavens. The tradition didn’t end with the Celts. Similarly, the Vikings ceremonially presented newlyweds with goblets of mead. In addition, June is a popular wedding month, so much so, that the drinking of the mead led to the term “honeymoon”.

Why a Supermoon?

A full moon that occurs at the same time as a perigee, that is to say, the closest that the Moon comes to the Earth in its elliptic orbit is known as a supermoon. That’s less than 360,000 kilometers (223,694 miles) from the centre of Earth. Subsequently, when the supermoon arrives, it appears larger and brighter than at any other time. Moreover, a supermoon is intense and magical and therefore, the perfect time to mindfully rewild.

Mindful Strawberry Moon

The strawberry moon 2022 is a potent time to meditate. For example, when the strawberry moon arrives there’s a tangible sense of awe. In other words, it’s time to manifest. Create space to go inward, renew and rejuvenate. More importantly, a full moon rising is certainly the perfect time to mindfully rewild, and as a result, connect with the magic of the universe.
